Coaching to a Great Marriage
If you have not read my previous article you might get a little lost on this one but for those of you who have bear with me whilst I summarize for those who has not read it.
Essentially marriage is the journey of two people committed to each other for a period of time. In that period of time there is the expectation that they will spend time appreciating each other's growth and development including the quirks that come with it.
During that time we tend to become invisible to each other. Yes, this is not true in all cases but I can safely say in most cases.
The stresses and strains that our current environment puts on partners is to say the least incredibly stressful as both try and cope with work pressure, career, ambition, children, finances and in between find time to be romantically involved.
I have over my life time done a fair amount of coaching, mentoring and counselling (as a friend) to various people that came into my life, specifically helping with their marital challenges. That really is what these stumbling blocks were, challenges. Most people managed to sort things out allowed logic to prevail and tried again to save their marriages.
A lot of people simply walked away as the effort of making a marriage work seemed too much and staying with the affair or finding a new partner seemed so much easier.
As we all know taking the easy way out is not always the best option as in most cases those same issues you had in your first marriage or relationship merely surfaced again in your following marriage/s or relationships.
Once every 2-3 years couples should go for marital coaching. This helps to cement the marriage and can address or surface issues that we all know is much easier to push below the surface and leave than sorting it out as it occur.
Now you might wonder what you would need marital coaching for if everything seems good to you. Stop for a moment and consider your marriage or long term relationship. Look back and review how different you both are to what you were. Individuals grow and development each year at a different pace to their respective partners. Each of us has a different life journey and different lessons to learn.
Now ask yourself again '' is there really nothing?'
A healthy relationship has a maturity and an open mind to individuality. Therefore it would be prudent to 'service' this relationship and / or marriage much like you would look after your favourite automobile with love and care.
You service your automobile on a regular basis as it is an investment. Have you not invested a heck of a lot more in your relationship and / or marriage?
Many people have come to believe that marriage is an old fashioned institution and what is a piece of paper anyway? I still believe in it don't you? It is such a romantic way of binding two people committed to each other with love, care and kindness.
Unconditional love is what is asked. It is not hard to do and the benefits are unbelievable. But it takes work and commitment from both parties. So do yourself a favour consider coaching for a great marriage? Keep it alive by being proactive.
Service your marriage with the same love you would give to your favourite automobile. It will certainly make for an easier journey going forward.
